Liturgical Ministries

Extraordinary Ministers

Extraordinary Ministers assist the priest in the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass and doing after-Mass clean-up. They also take Holy Communion to parishioners who can’t attend Mass. Any Catholic over 18, who is in sacramental union with the Church may apply. All members must be approved by the pastor. Initial training is done with follow-up as needed. If you are interested in this ministry, please contact the Parish Office, (570) 474-6315, ext. 221.

Lectors

Lectors are individuals who boldly and effectively proclaim God’s Word within the context of liturgical worship at St. Jude Parish. Volunteers read assigned readings at Sunday Liturgies and other special liturgical celebrations. Lectors must be outgoing, friendly, and be good readers and communicators with a strong voice. They must have received Confirmation, be in good standing with the Catholic Church and be members of St. Jude Parish. Lectors must spend time preparing for their readings with the help of a guidebook. Schedules are prepared quarterly. If you are interested in becoming a Lector, please contact the Parish Office, (570) 474-6315, ext. 221.

Altar Servers

Altar Serving is a great ministry to begin volunteering in the church. St. Jude Parish welcomes all children from grades 3 and up, who have received the Sacrament of First Eucharist to consider joining this Ministry. If you feel that you are being called to this beautiful Ministry and would like more information, please contact the Parish Center, (570) 474-6315, ext. 221.

Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW)

All children through the 4th grade are invited to attend a very special celebration of God's word on Sundays at the 8:30 & 11:00 AM Masses. During the Mass children are dismissed with their CLOW leader and process to the meeting room where they will listen to the same scripture readings proclaimed at Mass, but at a child's level of understanding. The children then return at the Preparation of the Gifts to join their parents and the rest of the assembly for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. If you would like more information, please contact Carrie Grandzol, (570) 474-6315, ext. 282.

Ministers of Hospitality

Ministers of Hospitality welcome all individuals to our Liturgies and also help with collections, seating and handing out bulletins at the end of Mass. All adults age 18 and over are invited to be Ministers of Hospitality. They must be Confirmed and members of St. Jude Parish. Training is on-the-job. If you are interested in joining this ministry, please contact the Parish Office, (570) 474-6315, ext. 221.
